Order of Operations

  • Practice order of operations with this game.
Fractions
  • Students can practice finding equivalent fractions with this FunBrain game.
  • Use this funbrain game to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions and whole numbers.
  • Fraction Game Single player game
  • Fraction Track game for two players (similar to Fraction Game)
  • This applet allows you to model fractions and then shows the decimal and percent equivalent.
  • This web site uses pattern blocks to create designs. Works really well with 3rd grade lessons 3-30 and 3-35.

Area

  • Find area of polygons by decomposing shapes at this web site.Learn the relationship between perimeter and area. A shape will be automatically generated with the perimeter that you choose.
  • Calculate the area of this shape. You can choose only rectangular shapes or you can work with polygons that need to be decomposed to find their area.
  • Calculate the area of a triangle drawn on a grid. Learn about areas of triangles and about the Cartesian coordinate system.
  • A video about how to find the area of a triangle.
  • A video about how to find the area of a trapezoid.
Area and Perimeter
  • Funbrain, several levels of difficulty; calculate the perimeter and/or area; how to find area and perimeter and example are also included on the game page
  • .Find the area and perimeter of rectangles. Begins with a mini-lesson and then students manipulate a ruler to measure rectangles and then calculate the perimeter and area. This is a self-checking activity.
  • A movie demonstrating the difference between area and perimeter; also demonstrates that shapes with the same area can have a different perimeter.
  • This site helps students find area and perimeter of non-rectangular shapes.
  • This is a mini-lesson on area and perimeter; students learn how to find perimeter and then get to try a few problems on their own.
  • Use this applet to create rectangles of various perimeters and area.
Geometric Terms, Vocabulary
  • Students match geometric terms with pictures at this site to uncover a hidden picture.
  • Students compete against the clock to match geometric terms with pictures at this site to play MATHO.
Measuring Length
Perimeter
  • Adam Ant demonstrates how to find the perimeter of a rectangle and students fill in the answer before progressing to the next problem.
  • Students count units to determine the perimeter; shapes are irregular and students can choose the area.
  • Practice finding the perimeter of squares given the length of one side.
  • Practice finding the perimeter of rectangles given the length and width.
Angles
  • Students take a quiz identifying types of angles as this web site.
  • This web site offers a tutorial on angles and how to use a protractor. Click on skip intro and then choose lesson 16. The site has a virtual protractor that can be used to measure angles and create angles given in the tutorial (this is a very nicely done web site).
Triangles
Symmetry
  • Check out this web site for flag symmetry.
  • This web site has some neat symmetry illustrations and links. Be sure to check it out before using it with students!

Mean, Median, Mode

  • This web site offers a tutorial and practice with range, mean, median, and mode.
Probability
  • This web site offers a tutorial for students about probability and the language used.
  • Your students may find this interactive probability lesson helpful.
  • This web site contains a generator for rolling a die and if you put in the number of times you want to roll the dice, it graphs the results of an experiment.
  • This is a cute game for determining the probability of an event.
Graphing
  • This web site allows students to gather data in a table and then pick a circle/pie chart that matches the gathered data. (Great standardized test questions).
